The Lonely Sunflower

Giant sunflower stalking Shiba Inu:
At last year's state fair, I picked up a free packet of sunflower seeds (for growing, not snacking purposes). I planted the seeds by the stairs to the deck in the spring. Patiently, we waited for the stalks to come up and the plant is taller than us, towering over the deck. So far one flower is open and it is bigger than my face. Niko doesn't seem to notice this behemoth of a flower because it is not within his eyesight.

  1. I'm always AMAZED to see Nico off leash. Does he come back or play the "catch me" game for hours?

  2. In this picture, Niko is actually on a long tether. He absolutely loves the "catch me if you can" game so we don't let him off leash unless we are in the middle of nowhere.

  3. Ahh. Independent breed to put it nicely! My guy Kento is 12 and we still can't let him off leash. I've had other breeds that I trained to "come" but my Shiba... frustrating to say the least. I will sometimes attach a long light rope that I can at least get a hold of if need be. I love him but boy!
Thank you for your blog. I love reading about Nico and your adventures.
